Education is one of the primary areas of focus for Sister to Sister International, Inc. We link women, girls and families of color, to various resources that encourage and foster success in higher education. In this regard, we partner with local schools, sponsor educational forums, offer “Reach for the Stars” scholarships, design and facilitate a STEM Camp for girls and STEM Academy. We are also launching a scholarship data base and “sister to sister” mentoring program between STSI Reach for the Stars Scholarship Alumni and STEM Camp & Academy Sistah’s.
EDUCATION PROGRAMS AT-A-GLANCE
Summer “Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Camp for High School Girls” & Community Forums on STEM
Now in its fourth year, thanks to our Gold Sponsor – State Farm and Silver Sponsor – Xerox Corporation, this program aims to remedy the lack of women of color in scientific fields. The STEM Camp provides advance math and science instruction, STEM lectures, exposure to STEM role models and field trips, along with leadership, public speaking, networking and self-esteem building skills. Our STEM camp has evolved into a year round STEM Academy.
“REACH for the STARS”
Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving students, including the Delores Hinds, Nursing and STEM Scholarship; Charles Anthony Taylor Scholarship in the Arts; Outstanding Student Scholarship.
Mentoring, Interns & Scholarships
