Sister to Sister International, Inc. (STSI) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that links women, girls and families of African decent globally, to the resources that connect, advance and strengthen them. We do this through advocacy, education and the promotion of African culture. Sister to Sister International, Inc. (STSI) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that aims to connect, advance and strengthen women, girls and families of African descent worldwide by linking them to available resources. Our organization achieves this goal through education, advocacy and by promoting African culture. One of our primary objectives is to develop healthy lifestyles among our members. We focus on Health and Wellness, Education and Global Affairs to achieve this. To support our objectives, we organize health symposia and campaigns, personal and professional development workshops and seminars, fundraisers to enable charitable contributions and student scholarships, global briefings, communications & academic enrichment programs for youth, and publish periodic newsletters and a news flash to promote advocacy and information sharing. We also engage in dialogue with legislators on key issues affecting women and families, support UN conferences, network with women from all over the world, and collaborate with partners to advance our causes. This report entitled, “ Still I Rise” is an extension of our work that began in 2015 with the Obama White House Council on Women and Girls. We have since utilized a collective impact framework and built a cross-section of over 25 stakeholders, working collaboratively to improve outcomes for Black women and girls in Westchester related to STEM, STEAM and Health Curricula and Careers; Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Maternal Health and Healthy Lifestyles; Suspensions, Trauma & the Juvenile Justice System and Entrepreneurship, Pay Equity and Economic Prosperity. This groundbreaking research is meant to bolster our efforts and assist us in managing by fact. This report is also a testament to the resilience of Black women and girls, many of whom have achieved against the odds, rising to key positions, in government, like the Hon. Andrea Stewart Cousins, NYS Senate Majority Leader. With a focus on Maternal Health, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Mental Health & HIV/AIDS Reduction, we promote healthy lifestyles and weave health literacy into all of our programs. GLOBAL AFFAIRS GLOBAL AFFAIRS STSI is an official UN partner holding Special Consultative Status to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Public Information (DPI). Over the years STSI has sponsored many global events and collaborated with all aspects of civil society, including governmental and non-governmental entities, as well as the private sector, locally and globally. We have championed causes related to literacy and the adoption of the Gambian National Library in memory of the late Ruth V. Washington, an STSI friend who was in a fatal car crash prior to serving in her post as Ambassador to the Gambia; to assisting women in Haiti, through our “Helping the Ladies In Haiti Campaign” after their most recent tragic earthquake. Over the past ten years, our UN Days have become a hit with many students and women looking forward to joining STSI and global partners at the UN annually, to participate in thought-provoking impactful activities, during the Commission on the Status of Women’s sessions and so much more! For over 10 years, STSI has awarded scholarships to support ambitious young students as they pursue their academic goals! In 2026 we are honored to continue this legacy. To apply for the 2026 "Reach-for-The- Stars" college academic scholarship, complete the application, submit an academic resume, and also a 500-word essay that shares your vision, story, and academic passions. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: • Rising college freshman, who is graduating from high school, and has enrolled in a university, college, or vocational school (trade school) for this upcoming fall. •Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or higher. • Recipients must be present at the Annual Friends and Family Day in order to receive the scholarship. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. All parts of the application must be completed and submitted online by the deadline. 2. The application must be complete. An incomplete application can potentially negatively impact your opportunity to be awarded. 3. Upload and submit the official school transcript. 4.
